The Learning Management System is a Moodle-based digital learning platform designed to help organizations manage courses, learning materials, assignments, assessments and communication in one centralized online environment. It supports both trainers and learners by making teaching resources easier to organize and learning progress easier to monitor.
Training programs often rely on printed materials, messaging applications, email and separate spreadsheets to manage learning activities. This can make it difficult for trainers to organize course content, track participation, collect assignments and provide timely feedback.
The Moodle-based Learning Management System was developed to bring these activities together in one structured platform. It allows trainers to manage learning content and activities while giving learners a clear place to access lessons, submit work and follow their progress.
The system allows trainers to create courses, organize modules and upload learning materials such as documents, presentations, videos and links.
Learners can log in to access course content, complete activities, submit assignments, take quizzes and receive feedback. Trainers can review learner performance, monitor participation and manage course communication through the same platform.
Trainers can create and organize courses according to subjects, semesters, training batches or learning programs.
Each course can be divided into topics or weekly sections, making the content easier for learners to follow.
The platform supports different types of learning resources, including:
Documents and presentations
Videos and audio materials
Website links
Reading materials
Downloadable files
Recorded lessons
This allows trainers to provide learning content in different formats.
Trainers can create assignments with instructions, deadlines and submission requirements.
Learners can upload their work through the system, while trainers can review submissions, provide feedback and record grades.
Moodle supports online quizzes with different question types, including multiple-choice, true-or-false, matching and short-answer questions.
Quizzes can be automatically graded where appropriate, helping trainers reduce manual marking time.
The gradebook stores assessment results in one place. Trainers can review individual and class performance, while learners can see their own grades and feedback.
This makes learning progress clearer and easier to monitor.
The system can be used to record attendance and monitor participation in course activities.
Trainers can identify learners who have not accessed lessons, completed activities or submitted required work.
Trainers can post announcements, send messages and communicate important course information.
Discussion forums can also be used to encourage questions, group discussions and peer learning.
The platform can track course completion and learner activity. Trainers can see which resources have been accessed and which activities have been completed.
This helps identify learners who may need additional support.
The system controls access through user roles.
Common roles include:
Administrator – manages the platform, users and system settings.
Course Manager – creates and manages courses.
Trainer or Teacher – uploads materials, creates activities and assesses learners.
Learner or Student – accesses courses and completes learning activities.
Viewer or Observer – reviews selected course information without editing content.
The Moodle-based Learning Management System helps organizations:
Organize courses and learning resources
Reduce dependence on printed materials
Provide flexible access to learning
Collect assignments more efficiently
Track learner participation and progress
Improve communication between trainers and learners
Maintain assessment and grading records
Support both classroom and blended learning
Deliver training across different locations
Learners can access the system using computers, tablets or mobile devices, depending on internet availability and course design.
Course materials can be structured for self-paced, instructor-led or blended learning. This makes the platform suitable for formal education, staff development, community training and professional learning programs.
The Learning Management System creates a more organized and consistent learning environment. It gives trainers better tools for managing courses and provides learners with a clear digital space for accessing lessons and completing activities.
By combining content, communication, assessment and progress monitoring in one platform, the system can improve the quality and accessibility of teaching and learning.
The system is built using Moodle, an open-source learning management platform.
Depending on the hosting environment, supporting technologies may include:
PHP, MySQL or MariaDB, web hosting, Moodle plugins and responsive web technologies.
I configured and managed the Moodle-based Learning Management System to support the organization’s learning and training needs.
My work included setting up the platform, organizing course structures, managing user roles, configuring learning activities, uploading materials and supporting trainers and learners in using the system effectively.
This project demonstrates my ability to implement and manage a practical digital learning environment using an established open-source platform.
